Hi, I’m Nikki. Come learn about us and our homeschool life!
I’m the creator of www.californiahomeschoolmom.com where I share homeschooling advice, resources, curriculum, homemaking ideas and more! I’m a wife and a homeschooling mom to three kings (or rascals). Before I had kids, I was a teacher, magazine staff writer, and education curriculum consultant. I went back to graduate school to receive my masters in education while pregnant with my third child (read my post, “Surviving Grad School With a Family” to see how I pulled that one off…)
btw, I’m not hiding behind my shades, I couldn’t find a decent pic without them on…
We are an eclectic homeschooling (AKA “relaxed homeschooling”) household which is just a fancy way of saying we use whatever homeschool philosophies, approaches, and sources that suit our learning styles, personalities, and values.
We don’t live too far from the “entertainment capital of the world” with all its hustle, bustle, and facade so we try to surround ourselves with “chill” families and friends. There’s certainly no pretense in this house! When I post pictures you’ll probably see a sink full of dishes or carpet that needs vacuuming in the background. I used to be that mom that cleaned the house before the cleaning lady came. Now, I don’t even waste my money. So you know I’m not really cleaning before I post a pic – too much work. I know one of y’all will post a comment about it. 🙂
I might wipe down a sticky table, though…
Remember the three kings that dwell in my house? Here they are: (the pics are about 2 years old now. I really need to update them.)
STRING BEAN (9 YEARS OLD)
Teasing his younger brothers
MEATLOAF (7 YEARS OLD)
“Helping himself” to his brothers’ snacks, dinners, etc.
Mochi (5 YEARS OLD)
Reading about squids
Phases of the moon (seriously)
“Excavating” in the dirt
Picking berries/veggies from our garden
Following his older brothers around
*Daddy (AKA Fret) was not camera ready. 😉 He enjoys playing guitar and chasing after three energetic and very loud sons…
